Ask your manager for his/her opinion on unions.

If You Let A Union In, Your Rights Will Be

Lose the right of privacy.
Have to ask your shop steward to take your question or suggestion to management (which he/she may or may not do depending on his/her mood).
Lose the right to decide if you want to work or not.
Have to go on strike if the union calls you out.
